Yes, I did just put all of those words together in the same property title. It will literally take you longer to walk through the garden of the property than it will to get from the beachfront gate to having your feet in the sand and water. There are only a handful of villas in the middle of Sanur that are absolute beachfront, and only two or three are currently on the market. For me, this villa has it all. You have the benefits of a modern build contained within a gated complex, a really well laid-out, flexible set of living spaces built around a stunning garden and pool, and some very nice additions, modifications, and decor choices by the current owners. This all comes together to give a really authentic feel of Bali, and particularly of Sanur. The truth is, I visited the villa to take photos the day after Widi gave birth to our second daughter. I was (and still am) completely in a different dimension and I thought the lighting wasn’t working, my angles and rhythm were off, and basically that I would have to come back and take a new set of images to do the property justice. Well, this is the property at its worst, and I think you’ll agree that it’s still stunning. I now understand why supermodels get paid like they do – they can roll out of bed and look ten times better than we normal mortals. This property is equally photogenic. Would I exaggerate??

Looks aside, this villa is more practical than you may think. For a start, you have the option to open all the doors and live ‘al fresco’, or close them and die by air conditioner. Even the most acclimatised among us will attest that there are a few weeks either side of the rainy season where it is basically unbearable to go outdoors, never mind live outside of some cold air. And most of the wet season is better spent with closed doors to avoid sharing your living space with any and all of God’s creatures looking to get out of the rain. But coming into this time of year, when the wind changes and the kites come out, you may also know that it can get quite fresh for these few dry months of the year, particularly with a direct onshore breeze coming off the sea. And it’s very nice to be able to open up the doors and let the wind whip around the house.

Whether you live in the property year round (which is possible without worrying about rental pool limitations) or you come and go and rent for the rest of the year, I would expect you will have guests. The layout of the property is such that you have two bedrooms outside the main house, just tiptoeing distance to the main terrace, living area and kitchen but far enough away to afford some privacy to both residents and guests. It’s all too common to find villas that aren’t set up to live in, or residences that aren’t set up for guests. This one is.

It is possible to run the property as a holiday rental, either part time or year round. You can either enter the unit into the complex’s rental pool, manage yourself, or hire a full time management company. I would find it difficult to share, personally.

I could go on pointing out the details and benefits of this property, but you really do have to see it. It’s not within everyone’s reach, but I can tell you that it’s been an absolute pleasure just spending some time in the place. If you are looking for a property without compromise, here it is. It really impressed me, and I expect it will impress you too. Come have a look, I need an excuse to go back.
